Baan Rao

Baan Rao, which means "Our house" is South Lantau’s first and only fully licensed Thai restaurant.

All of our chefs are Thai and between them deliver truly authentic Thai meals using fresh and daily imported produce.

Nestled in a shady corner, behind the Bank Of East Asia, Baan Rao is less than 100 m from the Mui Wo ferry pier and bus terminus and with ample bicycle parking right outside it is the perfect location to rest or refuel after a hike, a day on the beach, a spot of mountain biking or to celebrate!

Our menu is full of the regular dishes found up and down Thailand plus some lesser known but equally delicious dishes too. Our Mango & soft shell crab roll with spicy sauce and our Chiang Mai sausage for example are becoming firm favourites and it's not hard to understand why when you taste them!

We open at 11 am every day, except Tuesdays, and the kitchen's last orders are at 8:30 pm yet we remain open until later to allow diners to enjoy their dining.

"Great place for quick, relatively cheap and fresh food. Their breakfasts are no fuss, with egg/sausage/chicken/ham plus drink combos under $35. Milk tea (both hot and cold) is among the better ones available in TC. Breakfast open till 11am. Lunch menu from 11 am to 2pm (dishes sell out fast). They have fried rice with beef/bitter melon, scallops, pork chops with eggplant; also plenty of congee and soup noodle options. At under $45 with drink, well worth the price and portions are good."
